Calamus Writing and Editing, my freelance writing consultancy, is expanding. Most significantly, I am adding a system of stand-alone (for now) online courses to provide support for writers who need encouragement or to brush up on their skills. The program is called “Calamus Academy” and is intended to be self-paced and self-directed, while also incorporating direct, human feedback. I believe the system to be sound, allowing me to personally give comments, suggestions, and scaffolded learning opportunities.
I have a plan for the foundational courses (the current list of future offerings can be seen here). I know the topics I have identified so far are valuable to many of my current clients, as well as folks in my prospective client base, but I want to ensure I provide as much breadth as I can. Time constraints resulting from my current teaching schedule mean I need to wait for a few months to finalize the content for the first course offerings (the initial Academy classes will be complete in May and June 2023), but I still have time for pondering. Ideas? I’m always open to suggestions for topics to include in the Academy’s course list. Let me know what you think.
