A lot of rich guy calamities occured in the last several days. I assume Donald Trump did something, but I don’t have time to care about that kind of rich guy calamity right now. I’m a not-rich guy in a rich guy world, and I have over 100 students at three universities to educate and care about because rich guys don’t. This is not an ideal circumstance because the rich guys need me and therefore grant me power in little drips and drabs that add up to a frankly scary amount of water held back by a dam that only I control. 

With mere weeks left in the semester, one of my students got highly miffed at one of my TAs. I won’t get into the particulars because, well, there are still weeks left in the semester. However, this was and is what uncritical people call a “teachable moment.”
